AFS Folklore and Education Updates

Mar 7, 2018

American Folklore Society (AFS) Folklore and Education Section conveners Jan Rosenberg and Rebecca Smith have asked for our help to get out the word: As the section prepares for our section meeting in October, we invite our members to complete a short survey on the use of current and future section funds. Answers to this anonymous survey will be compiled and will be used to guide a discussion at our section meeting in Buffalo. Visit the link below to participate:

Reminder: AFS will meet in Buffalo, New York this October.   The deadline for proposals for papers for 2018 is March 31st.  The theme for AFS 2018 is “No Illusions, No Exclusions,” and proposals exploring this theme are encouraged, but not required. If you are interested in presenting (in any format) and wish to have the panel sponsored by the Folklore and Education Section, or are looking for additional presenters to fill out a panel or diamond or poster presentation, please send an email to the section conveners this year: Jan Rosenberg and Rebecca Smith (contact details below).  For more information on our meeting this year, check out this link through the AFS website: http://www.afsnet.org/page/2018AM. Local Learning will also be hosting a special AFS workshop with local educators and artists on Saturday, October 20 from 9-noon. All are welcome to come and learn.
